Wayne Rooney is the man breaking records this weekend after reaching an amazing 49 goals for England in 106 capped matches just like Sir Charlton did in 106 games before 1970. The England Captian slotted home a penalty in the 13th minute of the qualifying game against San Marino to equal the Legends Record.

Even though Rooney believes He cannot be compared to Sir Charlton because unlike Charlton who won the World Cup with England, He on the other hand has not been able to win a major trophy with England but believes there is still a little time to do that and prays for it to come.

The San Marino match ended in a 6-0 in favour of England with Harry Kane, Theo Walcott also being on the score sheet, the highlight of the day if for the record breaker – Three Lions RecordĀ  breaking Captain Wayne Rooney

In a twisted gist, There is actually a third highest goal scorer for England who also has 49 goals and his name is “own Goal” – interesting?
