Georginio Wijnaldum hit a quadriple as he scored four goals in the Newcastle thrashing of Norwich for their first Premier League win of the season to move off the bottom of the table. Wijnaldum struck a diligent first goal, two headers and a superb long-range fourth. Spaniard Ayoze Perez stroked in the third for Newcastle and Aleksandar Mitrovic lashed in the fourth.

The stadium was alive all through in a somewhat magical contest that saw five goals scored in the space of 20 first-half minutes. #goalsssssss. Though Newcastle is still in relegation zone with 6 points from 9 matches now. But this win is all that they have been searching for, the hope that there is hope around the corner. Apparently, It is McClaren’s first win since taking over this summer, Ohh what a relief.

Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren: “I am relieved for the supporters and players who have endured a lot. “We knew a win was around the corner, but we didn’t know when it would come. We played some really good football. We kept the faith with the players – everyone around us is saying what they’ve been saying, but we’ve got to keep tight.”

The race continues … more actions to come
