Chelsea 2-0 Aston Villa, Mourinho- We won but it wasn’t a brilliant performance

Chelsea’s second home win of the season moves them up to 11th in the table, five points behind fourth place and arguably the returning Diego Costa played a key role as Chelsea earned a much-needed win over struggling Aston Villa.

This season’s Chelsea whores are readable and obvious, Costa had not scored enough, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard created little in the midfield, Chelsea’s defense is the worst for a big team conceding in almost every game, their invisibility both home and away seemed to have disappeared.

But today, a little light showed in the tunnel, Costa scored on his return from a three-match ban for violent conduct, the midfield – which included 19-year-old Ruben Loftus-Cheek until his removal at the break – offered more and they kept their first clean sheet in five games and saw the game out professionally.

According to the Chelsea FC website quote from Mourinho “Eden Hazard didn’t start a league game for us for the first time since April 2014 ‘I left Hazard out because we are conceding lots of goals. We need to defend better. We need our midfield players to be just worried about the central area of the pitch, not to be worried about compensating for the left side or the right side.”

It’s not the best from the Blues but the win lifts pressure off Manager Mourinho, even Owner Roman had a smile after the match, Jose can still keep his eyes on the goal with just 10 pts difference btw him and Pellegrini’s 21 pts City. In his remarks after the match, he said “It was not a brilliant performance but it was a Solid performance, we kept a clean sheet and won the game

Is Mother luck smiling back on Chelsea or Villa was just a poor side?
