It is the eighth consecutive year that Real Madrid’s Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Messi have been on the shortlist and this time its Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar that make up the three-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or – the award given to the world footballer of the year.
One name that should have been in that 4 man list (if there ever will be a 4 man list) is Suarez, of course he has done enough to be in that list but with Messi and Ronaldo, there is only space for one person and this year, folks have decided to push in Neymar in the mix. And then the big question, could this neymar mix spring a surprise out of the award?
Can, Would, Could Neymar win the Award?
The date is set and the trio now have to wait until January 11 2016 to find out who will be crowned as the best player of the calendar year. Ronaldo has been named the world’s best footballer for the past two years, ending Messi’s four-year hold on an award regarded as the game’s most prestigious individual accolade.
It is the first time 23-year-old Brazilian Neymar, who along with Messi has helped Barcelona to the top of La Liga, has made the final three.
See you in January but before i go .. who do you tip for the Trophy this time – Messi or Ronaldo?
